Zenji Nio at India's first Japanese temple
Along with President of India Pranab Mukherjee, Zenji Nio is a patron of India's first Buddhist temple run by the Japanese. After Buddhism was fully eradicated in India by the 12th century, the Japanese led by Okakura Tenshin brought Buddhism back to India. Thereafter Fuji guruji opened the first Buddhist temple in India and Zenji Nio has close ties with the Japanese Buddhist priests reviving Buddhism in India.
